Underground metro construction can alter the stress and groundwater conditions around existing structures. Historic and heritage buildings are particularly sensitive to even small levels of differential ground movement.
Traditional monitoring provides highly localised measurements, while construction impacts can extend beyond individual monitoring points.
Our Approach
InSpectiv Labs establishes a satellite-derived deformation baseline around the construction corridor before major tunnelling activities begin. Regular InSAR observations are then used to track changes in ground motion across the corridor and surrounding structures.
The monitoring framework can identify:
- Settlement patterns along the tunnelling corridor
- Differential movement around heritage structures
- Emerging deformation hotspots
- Changes in deformation behaviour during construction
- Stable reference areas for comparison
Outcome
